Proto introduced its punch and chisel line in 1907, and continues to offer
one of the broadest lines of Professional punches and chisels available.
Specified by professional users, Proto punches and chisels are available
in many individual styles as well as a variety of sets created to meet
industrial requirements.
PROTO PUNCH AND CHISEL FEATURES
Super duty punches and chisels are made from tough, shock resistant
tool steel. Standard duty punches and chisels are made from alloy
steel. Both are designed for strength and durability.
Proto punches and chisels are hardened, quenched and tempered to
precise specifications. Super duty products receive an ultraprogressive
method of heat treating called austempering which
produces uniform hardness, greater strength and ductility.
Special heat treated and modified parabolic struck end resist
mushrooming and chipping.
Proto punches and standard duty chisels feature a black oxide finish,
highlighted by bright machined tapers. A polished identification panel
on one of the hexes is marked with the tool number and sizes in
a black inlay.
CHISELS
Proto chisels are available in a wide range of cutting widths, lengths
and styles. Proto chisels are designed to provide a long lasting
performance for a variety of specific functions.
Super duty chisels feature a knurled, round shank that is longer than
standard chisels for comfort and easy positioning.
Proto cold chisels have a cutting edge that is hand ground to be the
exact angle for the best and easiest cut through tough metals.
PUNCHES
Proto punches are available to meet many industrial requirements. Each
length, diameter, taper, and point design is manufactured to perform with
a particular job in mind.
PRY BARS
Proto offers a variety of pry bars in various lengths designed for use in a
variety of industrial applications. The Proto line of pry bars with large,
heavy duty handles provides added grip and comfort.
